Finishing Part one

I have been working on the same novel since 2007.  It hasn't always been fun or easy but it's always been worth it.  I started with writing it on a notepad and almost 300 written pages later (and four notebooks and a few pens) I decided to get a laptop.  (Best decision ever! :D )
I wrote, re-wrote, re-re-wrote and re-re-re-wrote the book.  This is my fifth draft and I know that it still needs a lot of editing but I also know that I won't be re-writing the book again.  After some editing throughout the book is done,  I will be ready to send it in for publication.  And the idea of finally getting published is exhilarating!

But I know there are many more steps before I get there.  After editing,  I get to edit some more.  After that I get to let a few friends read and edit it.  And then I get to edit it again! After that I get to write a query letter and after writing that,  I get to edit that.  (I am beginning to see a pattern)

Since I first began writing I have known exactly who my first book was being dedicated to. . . and over the years a few more people got added to the list.  (Yes my first book is being dedicated to more than one person)

I know exactly what I want the cover to look like!  I know how I want the inside designed (And yes I am aware that I don't get the final say on a lot of this)  But one thing I have NEVER known, is the title and tag line.  How does one come up with a title for their book?  It's like naming a new born baby.  There are so many choices and options and so little time to figure it out!  And the tag line is like that babies middle name!  Where are you going to come up with a name (book title)  and then a complimentary second name (tag line)  that fits well with the first?

Well tonight I will finish draft five and begin working on book two (for NaNoWriMo)  And then I will be going back to. . .-you guessed it- Editing!

Congrats to all of those who have made it to publication and to all those you have not, I wish you the best of luck!

Win the coolest book prize pack ever and help a great cause!

Story Description:

Brother Gabriel, Daniel’s mentor and an ancient Urbat, plays an important role in The Lost Saintas well as the upcoming conclusion to the Dark Divine trilogy, The Savage Grace. We were first introduced to Gabriel in The Dark Divine when Grace recieves a book of ancient letters that Gabriel (a young monk at the time) wrote to his sister during the Crusades, detailing his search to know more about the Urbat. The book of letters ends just before Gabriel falls to the Urbat curse, leaving us to wonder what happened to him in the following years to turn him into the man he is today.

Most of Gabriel’s letters were written during the thirteenth century, and later translated and compiled by an Orthodox priest in the eighteenth century. For whatever reason, some of Gabriel’s letters were lost after translation and did not make it into that original book. But good news! A few of these “lost letters,” detailing Gabriel’s fall to the Urbat curse and his quest to seek revenge on the man responsible for his demise, have recently been “discovered” by the indomitable crew at Egmont USA, and are compiled here for your reading pleasure.

I hope you enjoy The Lost Letters of Brother Gabriel. I think they give a lot more depth to Brother Gabriel’s character and the mythology of the Dark Divine trilogy.

Sounds amazing right?  Well Here's the link for more details!

Tiger party prize winners!

Even though I posted earlier that I would be postponing announcing the winners. . . I decided to go ahead and do it anyway! So here it is!

And the winners are:

For the 1st mini Contest, Cast that Character:

Elizabeth Hughes! (Who had to e-mail me all of her entries because blogger wasn't working!)  Here is her casting choices:

                                                                        Ren:

Kishan:

Kelsey:

Though I am not sure about Emma Watson playing the role of Kelsey, I laughed my head off and her choices for Ren and Kishan.

And Lizzy's prize is:

Tiger Art!

For the 2nd mini contest, Cookies for the Win:

Karen!!!!!  The cookie recipe she sent me was absolutely delicious!  (with her permission I will post the recipe at a later date)

And Karen's Prize:

Sterling Silver Lotus flower pendant.

For the 3rd mini contest, The Perfect Date:

Jenna DeTrapani!!!!  Here is Jenna's perfect date with Ren:

"Ren. I would take him (the man) to LegoLand in Orlando, where we will build Lego tigers all day long... Then maybe we will hop-skip on over to Busch Gardens Tampa Bay where he can watch his white tiger brothers as they laze around in the park... Perhaps he could pop his head up in the bubble viewing area (a window underground that puts your head in the midst of the tigers) and turn into a white tiger himself to create some pandemonium in the park! Of course we would have to hightail it home after that! ;)~"

And Jenna's prize:

Golden Tigers Eye and black onyx beaded necklace
(Made by me)
(Sorry there is no picture for this prize at the moment. I will post the picture when I have one)

For the 4th mini contest,  Written Love:

McElwain Family!!  Here is the poem!

You're the one I trust
And the only thing I lust
You're the one I truly love
And everything that I dream of

My redemption from myself
And the one thing that makes my heart melt
The one who calms my mind
And holds me when I cry at night

You're the one who helps me breath
When everything else is against me
The one I truly need
To be myself absolute complete

Forever's not long enough
To express all my love
And snuggles tight
And tickle fights
You're something special

When you sing softly
And when you hold my hand
I feel – free
You know what you are?

Your special to me.

And for McElwain Family's prize:

Tiger Art!

For the 5th mini contest,  Paying it Forward:

Amanda Temple!!!!!

And Amanda's prize:

Blue Tigers Eye and white quartz beaded necklace
(Also made by me and again, I am very sorry there is no picture)

And now. . . the moment everyone has been waiting for. . . The grand prize winner. . . but first let me tell you what this prize is. . .

The Grand Prize:

1 copy of
Tiger's Curse
Tiger's Quest
and
Tiger's Voyage. . .

And the winner. . . is. . .

Amanda Temple!!!!

but that's not all. . .

Amanda earned 21 points in total.

But that is not all. . . .

There was a bonus prize if I hit 100 followers by November first. And even though I didn't hit 100 followers today,  I am still giving the stuffed tiger away!  To our runner up winner with a total of 20 points. . . Jenna DeTrapani!!

Congrats to all the winners!

e-mail me to claim your prizes!

nothought2small@gmail.com

One more thing. . . because Elizabeth Hughes entries were e-mailed to me, no one else got to see everything.  I posted her casting choices but I would like to share her poem and date because they made me fall out of my chair I was laughing so hard.

Elizabeth's poem:

Dear Ren,

Roses are Red
Violets are Blue
Kishan is Sexy
But not as much as you!

  <3 Kelsey

And Elizabeth's date:

Well, to start off with, I would apologize to Kishan for asking him out, because I still think it should be guys who have that priveledge. With that out of the way, I would kidnap him and take him to Vernon, Utah, where we would both dress up in Hawaiian shorts and bermuda T-shirts with ridiculous huge sunglasses and those old fashioned, massive cameras. Then we would both fake the most horrific accents we could (of any language, although Russian or French would be best), and explore the town as tourists! We'd ask EVERYONE to take our picture in front of the most ridiculous things--like the cactus plants or those signs that say "Vernon--where everyone knows the name of you, your family, and your horse." We would frequently "get lost" and have to ask for directions, always making sure to ask what the best site-seeing places are. We'd stop for lunch at the Silver Sage and marvel at "American food." We would end our date at the reservoir with ridiculous, completely wrong fishing methods! :D

Prizes Postponed

I am very sorry to say that I will be announcing the winners of the Tiger Party tomorrow.  I had a family emergency come up and I will be unavailable to post results today.  I am so sorry about this but because of this. . . If you would like to enter any mini contests that you didn't get a chance to before,  now is your chance.

I am extending the entry period to 8am tomorrow morning.

And the Good news is, TIGERS VOYAGE IS NOW AVAILABLE!!!!!!!!!!
