Writeaway: Twelve Books for Christmas: Book twelve

Blogger is having an error so here is the interview for Valerie Douglas.  Book twelve in the Twelve Books for Christmas for Writeaway's posts.

Please welcome Valerie Douglas author of Song of the Fairy Queen, Heart of the Gods, Not Magic Enough and
The Coming Storm.

Read an awesome interview,  a bit about one of her books and how to win a copy!

Me New 2.jpg

Konstanz:  How many of your Characters are based off real people?
Valerie: Depending on the book, anywhere from none to half. A reviewer once criticized one character, saying he wasn't realistic, but...he was. In Song of the Fairy Queen, only one....
Konstanz:  If you could be anyone for a day, who would you be?
Valerie: Angelina Jolie, and not because of Brad, but because of her charity work.
Konstanz:  Wheel of time or Harry Potter?
Valerie: Harry Potter, the magic and creatures were more fun.
Konstanz: Whats your writing bucket list?
Valerie: A prequel to The Coming Storm, although I'm hoping it won't come down to that
Konstanz: Whats your favorite genre to read?
Valerie: It would be better to ask for a genre I DON'T read
Konstanz: Whats your favorite candy cane flavor?
Valerie: Traditional peppermint, there are some things that are just supposed to be what they are - there are plenty of fruit flavored things, besides, you can stick it in hot chocolate.

The book:

Song Cover.jpg

It's said of Fairy that if you're in dire need and you call their name they'll come. With his castle under siege and young son in his arms, High King Oryan couldn't be in more dire need. With only his High Marshal, Morgan, and a handful of Morgan's men at his back, he has only one direction left to run...up. And only one ally to whom he can turn. Kyriay, the Queen of the Fairy.

I know you want a copy!  I know I want a copy! Well we are giving away FIVE copies!  (E-book)

Please welcome Willow Cross, author of The Dark Gifts: Birthright.  After reading this fun interview,  read about the wonderful book and how you can win a copy!

Konstanz: Describe your ideal date with Smeagull (Lord of the Rings)

Willow: The date would begin in the early morning hours.  Possibly around 4am.  I'd definitely want him to be a bit drowsy.  Before the sun breaks over the horizon we'll head down to the river with some candles and a picnic basket.  We'll have a little wine, talk about how wonderful he is, and when I'm certain he's completely into me, I'll cut his heart out.  If it wasn't for Smeagull none of the terrible things would have happened to poor Frodo.  I'd only date him with intent to kill. LOL

Konstanz: What is your biggest fear as a writer?

Willow: Wow!  Well if I'm going to be honest, I'd say my biggest fear is that I'm not any good. LOL  At times, hidden in the back of my mind, there's this little voice that whispers, "They're just being nice to you.  You don't really have any talent."  It's not very loud and it doesn't last too very long, but it's there.

Konstanz: What's your greatest inspiration as a writer?

Willow: I don't have one certain inspiration.  Nearly anything can inspire me to write a story.  Just yesterday I was joking with a friend and out of this oddball conversation came a story idea that I'm really attached to.  I quickly jotted down some notes and it's on my TBW (To be written) list.

Konstanz: Pen or Pencil?

Willow: Computer.  It would take me years to write a novel if I used either of those. LOL

Konstanz: Who has been your greatest support?

Willow: My best friend Pam.  When that ‘voice' rears its ugly little head I call her.  She always knows how to make it go away.

Konstanz: Favorite reindeer?

Willow: Dancer!

The book:
Birthright cover 3.jpg

Throughout the ages, druids have passed down a prophecy from one generation to the next. A girl, born of a witch clan, will become vampyre and spark a war that will divide the vampire nation. This young woman will either save humanity from vampire reign, or be the end of it. Although she’s never heard the prophecy, and doesn’t believe in witchcraft, Liz Markum is that woman.

Working with her maker, Michael, and the remaining members of the warring Vampire Council, Liz must defeat the darkness inside her and learn to become more than a killer vampire. She must become a vampire killer.

I know you really want this book (I know I really want this book)  So never fear because I am here to tell you how you can win a copy.  Actually we aren't giving away 'a' copy.  We are  giving away. . . not one. . . not two. . . not three. . .not ten. . . not eleven. . . but TWELVE e-copies!

How to win:
1.Be a follower of this blog
2. 'Like' Willow's Facebook page
3. Leave a comment on this post telling me which of the reindeer is your favorite.
(Don't forget to leave your e-mail in the comments so I can contact you if you win)

Simple as that!  Thank you for Participating!

Twelve Books for Christmas: Book Eleven

Twelve Books for Christmas

Karen 13.jpg

Please welcome Karen Hoover, author of The Wolfchild saga and The Misadventures of a teenage boy: Two souls are better than one.  After you have read this most delightful (and quite funny) interview,  read on about the books and how to win a copy or two. . or three. . or four. . or more. . . of The misadventures of a teenage boy: Two Souls are better than one.

Konstanz: Sympathetic villain or power hungry egotist?

Karen: I assume you are asking which I would be myself? If so, I'm definitely the sympathetic villain type. Just look at C'Tan in my Wolfchild Saga! lol

Konstanz: Describe your idea date with Kermit the Frog (The muppets)

Karen: Well, we'd spend an afternoon by the lake picnicking. I'd try not to vomit while he hopped along the shore catching flies. Miss Piggy would be stuck in a boat somewhere in the middle of the lake so she couldn't interfere while Kermit serenaded me.

Konstanz: Whats your greatest inspiration as writer?

Karen: The Great Creator Himself. :) I believe that all creation comes with inspiration from up above and I know I couldn't write the stories I do without it.

Konstanz:  Favorite sentence you've ever written?

Karen: From Book 2 of The Wolfchild Saga, The Armor of Light. And it's a paragraph. I couldn't pick just one sentence, though the last sentence is my very favorite. "The huge gates leading into the jeweled city of the MerCats were magnificent. Kayla had never imagined that lava rock, magelights, and underwater plant life could combine in such a manner as to be more beautiful than King Rojan's throne room. Nature in its most resplendent parade had completely outdone all the gold and satins adorning King Rojan's halls."

Konstanz:  Do you have a critique group who has helped you on your journey to publication?

Karen: I have had several over the years, most of them online, but some in person. I even spent part of a year in Brandon Sanderson's critique group. Talk about an experience!!!

Konstanz: Favorite Christmas present you've ever received?

Karen:  $100 I received as a teenager that I spent entirely on books (which you could get for 2.99 back then.) My mom wasn't too happy I spent it all on books, but I didn't care. It was the first I read Anne McCaffrey and David Eddings. Worth every penny.

The book:
7.jpg

"Jeremy James Johansen has more than his share of problems. His father has disappeared without a trace, he’s just been suspended from school, and he has the ghost of a dead mage sharing his body. His search for answers will take him across the boundaries of reality, and into another world—a world that has invaded his own small town."

Sounds amazing right??  I certainly think so!
How to win not one, not two, not three, not four, not even five but TEN e-copies!

2. Follow Karen's blog
2. Comment on this post and tell me whats the best present you've ever been given for Christmas

Twelve Books for Christmas: Book Ten

The Twelve Books for Christmas

Please welcome Melissa Lemon, author of Cinder and Ella.  Read this awesome interview and then a little bit about the book and how you can win a copy!

Konstanz:  How many times have you done NaNoWriMo? (Has it been successful every time?)

Melissa: Hmmmm. I’ve attempted three times and let’s see. Oh, hold on, I’m burning something on the stove. Okay, I’m back. NaNoWriMo. Like I said, I’ve tried three times and...just a second, my four year old needs something. Okay, deep breath. Actually I think I’ll be able to focus more after I’ve had a few Peanut M&Ms. Be right back.
NaNoWriMo doesn’t really fit into my lifestyle. But I try. Cinder and Ella is actually a product of NaNoWriMo. At the end of November 2009, I had “completed” a novel. Unfortunately, the first draft was only 43,000 words. In other words: TRY, TRY, TRY, FAIL, FAIL, FAIL. Maybe someday!
Konstanz:  If you could be anyone for a day, who would you be?
Melissa: Wow, tough question! I know this person is dead, but you won’t hold that against me, will you? I have always been fascinated with Mother Teresa. To think of all of the horrible things she must have seen, not to mention the miracles, and the interesting people she must have met, and the purpose she must have felt to do what she did for SO long...it is awe-inspiring. I think it would be fun to see and experience.
Konstanz:  Who would you rather meet: Rick Riordan or Suzanne Collins?
Melissa: Suzanne Collins—men are all the same. (Just kidding.) I love the Hunger Games series. I would love to ask where the ideas came from. I’m looking forward to the movies so my hubby and I can have some fun date nights. He loved the series as well.
Konstanz:  What’s your writing bucket list?
Melissa:
a. Get published AGAIN
b. Hit the New York Times Best Seller list at least once in my lifetime
c. Get all of the stories out of my head
d. Survive
e. Enjoy every minute! I’m so lucky to be living my dream and doing what I love.

Konstanz:  Has there ever been a point in your writing career (before publication) that you were just ready to give up with writing entirely, and now you look back and are grateful you never did?
Melissa: Well, first of all, how high can you count? Writing is not for the faint of heart and sometimes I get a little woozy. I remember one time specifically where I actually packed all of my drafts, notebooks and rejection letters into a box and shoved it in the closet. I cried for a week straight. So I got the box back out and tried again. I am sooooo grateful. Obviously it’s hugely important to me and a much bigger deal than I thought. Writing makes me happy. I’m so glad I get to do it for a living.
Konstanz:  When do you start Christmas shopping?
Melissa: That really depends on the year. Sometimes I start in January with Christmas pajamas on clearance and buy a few things here and there throughout the entire year. Sometimes I wait until December. This year, I’ve decided not to Christmas shop at all. Nobody’s getting a thing and I’ve quite enjoyed the peace and quiet! I promise I’m not a Grinch. I have just come to despise the commercialism of it all and want to bask in the true meaning of giving and loving and family. We’re taking our kids skiing and doing some other fun activities together to celebrate. I hope everyone out there has a wonderful Christmas!

The Book:

When their father mysteriously disappears, Cinder and Ella struggle to care for their two spoiled sisters and a mother who barely knows them. As Cinder submits to the abuse, Ella vows not to give in or give up on her beloved father. The quest to find her father will demand everything--her strength, her tenacity, and even her heart. Not it's up to Ella to save herself, her family, and the entire kingdom.

Now that you just can't wait to get a copy (I know I can't)  I am going to tell you how you can win a copy.  Two actually.  I have for you to win,  one e-copy and one hard copy to win!
