The Breakaway Giveaway and Interview with the author!

Say Hello to Michelle Davidson Argyle, author of The Breakaway, Monarch and coming out later this year is Bonded.   I have read The Breakaway and it is intense, action packed, kinda scary, and one of my favorite reads this year.

Read our little interview and then find out how you can win a copy of The Breakaway.

The Interview:

Konstanz:  Aside from writing, what is your favorite thing to do?
Michelle: Hanging out with my family and making food! We really like to cook and eat. :)

K: What inspires you to write?
M: I think I like to discover things about myself when I write. I like to create, most of all. The feelings I get when I finish a book are unmatched by anything - creating something so personal and involved.

K: Do you listen to Music while you write?
M: Sometimes. I have a soundtrack I've compiled of the most random music ever - folk, rap, heavy metal, but the reason I can listen to it while I write is because it's all my favorite stuff and I know it so well that I can tune it out, but my brain is still affected chemically by the upbeat tunes. They make me happy!

K: Out of all the stories you have written, which one is your favorite?  Why?
M: I don't know if I can choose a favorite! I'd have to say Scales, which is a novella in my Bonded collection coming out this November, is the closest book to me. It really affected me in a lot of ways. The Breakaway is also very close to me because it has been in my life for over 17 years. It's very special to me.

K: Favorite Food?
M: Sushi! Or Indian. Or Thai. Hahaha. I really love ethnic foods. But I think if I had to choose a general food, it would be cheese.

K: Dream vacation?
M: Italy with my husband, in a villa, for three months.

K:  If you could have any super power, which would it be? Why?  What would you do with it?
M: I think it would be to turn invisible because sometimes I just want to be invisible and melt away whenever I need a true break. That sounds so depressing! Hahaha.

K:  What advice can you give to aspiring authors?
M: Read a lot and write a lot and always stay with what you love. Dead writing happens when you try to please other people.

And now. . .

I am giving away one paper back copy of The Breakaway.

  2. Cheese is one of my fave foods too!

Hmm, if I were kidnapped I know I'd scream a lot, and cry. I'm not much of a fighter so I don't know what I'd do to get away if the kidnappers succeeded in snatching me.

    Tough question :)

  4. Just like in a Zombiepocalypse, I would be the first to panic and flail madly like a fish out of water if I were kidnapped - that, and I'd try to get the kidnappers to like me. I can't wait to read The Breakaway.

  5. Great interview! I really like the advice of always staying with what you love. If you love something, it will never feel like a job. If I were kidnapped I would also cry and get mad because that's what I do when I'm scared.

  6. Well...If I was kidnapped I'd be a total baby. I'm not much of a hero (I guess that's why I write about them!) I'd probably cry and shake a lot. I'm sure I'd be pretty quiet other than that. I figure my chances for survival are probably better if I don't annoy the heck out of my kidnappers.

  7. hmmm I'd probably try to get on my kidnapper's good side...it's harder to kill someone you are friends with :D Either that or I'd melt into a puddle of terrified goo and completely lose it. Sort of a toss up ;)

  8. If I were kidnapped I'd be stunned, shocked, and bawl like a baby. I'd beg and plead not to harm me and pray lots and lots and lots. I'd fight, kick and scream and do everything I could to try and get away. I know my adrenalin would kick in and I'd desperately try to leave as soon as the time was right.

  9. It's true about Michelle and food. Her twitter feed always makes my mouth water! If I were kidnapped, I'd be so damn snarky-hilarious they'd let me go cause they loved me so much! At the very least, I'd have a captive audience.

    Hope I win!

  10. Great interview! If I were kidnapped I'd like to say I would keep it together and figure out a way to get out, but I'm not so sure

  11. Well if I were ever kidnapped I most likely you scream and you know the obvious kicking. I have this weird thing that I do like whenever people think that I'm just staring off in space I'm really thinking "Ok if someone were to come get me I would grab that table lamp" (I know it's weird but then again I'm werid soo..yeah LOL).

  12. Hopefully I'd get some knee to groin action, steal the gun/knife, and pray to God I'd get to safety before I'd have to use it :p

  13. If I were kidnapped, I would laugh at the kidnappers because I don't know anyone with enough money to pay a ransom. :)

  14. That was a fun interview! A villa for three months sounds like a dream. :)

I'm a survivor, so if I was kidnapped, I think I'd go down fighting. It might be wiser to stay silent and do what they say, but that isn't my natural tendency.

  15. I'd fight like hell and do everything in my power to escape, no matter what it took. Once removed from where others can see, the chance you will return is very slim so it is fight or never get back.

  16. Thanks so much for hosting this! And thanks, everyone, for stopping by. :)

  17. If I were kidnapped I would definitely fight. I can be super mean (ask my brothers) and pretty much don't stop til I win. So at the very least those mean kidnappers would have some nasty bruises and cuts.

  18. the first thought is try to find a help or waiting the best time to run away but still i dont like anybody being kidnapped ;(

  21. hm tough question. I would definitely be glad that I watch a lot of Criminal Minds, Law and Order SVU, but I need to watch some episodes of MacGyver so that I could make a weapon out of shoelaces, a blanket, and a fork.
Sometimes I do have dreams about robbers breaking into my house, so I think I know a few ways to escape.

But honestly, I would make a lot of observations about what was around me. Anything can be a tool or means of escape, so I would make sure to not overlook things. I also took some tae Kwon Do in university, so I would use my attacker's force and weight against him/her.

I also happen to be tiny (5ft, 105 lbs) so most people tend to overlook or underestimate me strength. Plus I have a lot of stamina so I think I could run away and slip out of things easily.

    fingers crossed* amandasilverman21@yahoo.com

  22. There is so much that would be determined by the kidnapper. I would probably try to sneak away, or fake something. If I could get a hold of a weapon I would probably try to use it. I am not good at sweet talking, not that that would help. Pray and pray and hope for a miracle.

  23. If I were kidnapped, I think they would return me very quickly (I can whine a lot). Thank you
