There are so many different types of Dragons. European dragons are my specialty. But before I talk about that, I will mention four famous Chinese dragons. I find their names very interesting. Four Kings. And together these four dragon kings control the rain and the seas.
Ao Shun,
Ao Chin,
Ao Kuang
and
Ao Ping.
Now moving onto other dragons. There are many dragon stories and in almost all cases, each individual dragon has it's own power. It's very own specialty. There are dragons representing the five elements, dragons representing Light and Dark. Dragons who rule over your dreams. The list is never ending. In almost every one of my novels (I am not published) there is at least one dragon.
The Tigers Curse saga: Tigers Voyage (Book three) there is a dragon for each element. (A great book btw, I recommend for sure!)
Another wonderful book series that involves dragons would be Enchanted Forest Chronicles. A wonderful series! (And great for all ages!)

DeleteGreat post! Dragons have always fascinated me, as well. One of my favorites is, of course, Smaug from Tolkien's The Hobbit. I also loved Pete's dragon, and ooh! The dragons in George Martin's Song of Ice and Fire series (Game of Thrones)! The bomb!!

DeleteA dragon appears in all of your novels? That's pretty cool. I love when there's a recurring element in an author's work. I don't know why but I start to think of it like a game and I'm allowed to play somehow.
ReplyDeleteYeah I'm pretty excited. And the funny thing about you saying it's like a game, is I actually made all of my novels a game. They are all connected by one detail in each book, creating a timeline. In one book there will be a scene showing characters from two different stories or there will be a conversation or place that connects each novel. It's one of the things I plan on making a challenge out of once I'm published. Getting Readers to connect the dots. . .

I never knew there was a difference between Euro dragons and Chinese ones! Since you are an expert on dragons, you must know that in China, it is the year of the dragon! Happy Year of the Dragon to you. (I'm in A to Z #1146)

Indeed there is a HUGE difference between the two. And yes, I am well aware that it is the year of the dragon. :) I even have a dragon shirt that says so!

DeleteOnly a hard core fan knows there are different dragons. I love this post. You really should read game of thrones you will love it. Also for a different slant on these wonderful critters the Liveship Traders series by Robin Hobb is magical.

I love dragons because I'm Welsh and was raised with their stories (and, as you say, not always bad). As I'm sure you know, our flag our Wales is of a green and white background with a red dragon (Y Ddraig Goch) on the front. I love our flag!
