Valkyrie are the angels of mythology. They carry the souls of warriors who died in battle to heaven. (Or. . you know. . .wherever they need to go). Valkyrie are always female. Their name comes from the Norse valr which means 'Battlefield-Corpse' and kjosa which means 'To choose'.
(Sorry today's post is super short and super late!)
Late? Late? I'm a whole day behind you. This isn't late!
ReplyDeleteI've done a little research on Valkyries for my own writings. They are fascinating beings. Studying angels of death, destruction or guardians has become a fun hobby of mine. They are in all religions, too, which was something I didn't understand until recently.
I'm here from A-Z. Follow me back! I'm a bit short of my 100 goal.
Thank you. I follow you now!
Deletevetter vate vhan vever :)
ReplyDelete:) True!
DeleteNo worries on late... Valkyries I like. Code names and video game characters (my favorite of course is Thyra the Valkyrie... "Valkyrie ... is about to die!")
ReplyDeleteThanks. I do too. And I'm glad I decided to go with Valkyrie for my 'V' post!
DeleteBattlefield corpse? Interesting.
ReplyDeleteVery vell done! Every warrior should have a Guardian Valkyre...just in case.
ReplyDeleteThanks. Yes, so true!
DeleteThis is interesting. And short, I like.
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteGood post, regardless of how short it is. I have always wondered what a Valkyrie was.
ReplyDeleteThank you! Glad I could tell you about them.
DeleteSecond post I've read today about Valkyries! (Laura Eno had the first.) Almost makes me want to go back to that manuscript I set aside . . .
ReplyDeleteErin
:) Good luck!
