Longbow

In case anyone was wondering, the longbow is my weapon of choice. And to give you an acurate idea of what a longbow is, Legolas (from Lord of the Rings) uses a longbow.  Hawkeye (from The Avengers) uses a re-curve bow. (The two are very often mistaken for the same thing.)

The Longbow was a very specialized weapon in medieval ages.  It took years to be trained by a master to learn how to accurately shoot a Longbow.  Where as the Crossbow only took a few weeks. BUT as I already said, the longbow had more accuracy.

*Disclaimer: I have done extensive research on each of these weapons. I am aware that there are many different versions of each of these weapons. I am not trying to spread false information. If you know and can prove any information wrong, please let me know and I will fix my errors.  I have at least three references for all research on the weapons I will discuss through the challenge.

  1. I think in the show Revolution the girl uses a cross-bow. I never considered accuracy as much as I just thought one had more power and capable of more distance.
Happy L Day I chose Lizards..because they are such cool reptiles.

  2. It scares me that you have a weapon of choice. I hope you consider me an ally.

    1. I don't know why that is scary. :) I promise I am not an evil person. Teheheh. I just like weapons and I like knowing which weapons I am good at using. It's okay, you're an ally. :)

  3. The basic of the Bow & Arrow are my choice. I remember in school we actually had archery class.

    1. Yep! Oh my goodness that is so cool! I went and did classes but it wasn't part of school!

  4. There was not so much accuracy involved in the longbow. The power of the longbow was in having 1000 men with them raining down mass death.

    1. Having shot both, the long bow definitely has more accuracy. But you do have a valid point.

  5. I was fascinated with archery and was surprised when I took a few classes and realized what hard work it is to not only be precise but just to get an arrow off to somewhere. I admire anyone that can stick with it.
I just asked for a new Glock for mother's day.
Thank you for co-hosting the challenge and good luck with the rest of the letters.

    1. It is a lot of hard work. It can also leave some pretty nasty bruises on your arm if you do it wrong (haha I know from experience). I LOVE archery!

You are welcome! Thanks for stopping by!

  8. The longbow is a BRILLIANT weapon of choice and I am so glad you pointed out the difference between the longbow and the recurve.

Are you going to talk about compound bows at any point? :-)

    1. Yes, I LOVE the Longbow. :) I learned the differences from a recurve when I accidentally requested the wrong bow for Christmas haha.

Sadly the compound bow doesn't get it's own post. However if I can fit it in, I will do a post about it after the challenge. :)
