Stiletto

I'm not talking about the kind you wear on your foot, but the deadly dagger that shoe was based off of.
Yep, the Stiletto didn't start out as a shoe.  It started out as a weapon.  But if you know what a stiletto heal looks like, you can guess what the dagger is like.

The blade is small, long, and painful.  And of all the daggers, this one is probably my favorite.

*Disclaimer: I have done extensive research on each of these weapons. I am aware that there are many different versions of each of these weapons. I am not trying to spread false information. If you know and can prove any information wrong, please let me know and I will fix my errors.  I have at least three references for all research on the weapons I will discuss through the challenge.

  1. That is so interesting that that is where the shoe got its name from.

  2. Hehehe, I've enjoyed all of these! Especially since I'm married to a man who keeps an armory of swords and blades in our house. :)

  3. I am not sure which is more deadly--the dagger or the shoe. Depending on the weight of the person wearing the stiletto heel, they could do a lot of damage by standing on you!

    Interesting history.

    1. That is an excellent point. I permanently ruined my ankle so I can't wear them (or high heals at all) but I do wonder . . .

  4. Maybe I need to buy myself a pair of stiletto heels. Always good to have a weapon at hand! Not that I could walk in them, mind you...

    1. LOL Just throw one in your purse, carry it around. Great way to protect yourself because no one will be expecting a shoe in the face or arm or somewhere else if they are attacking someone. LOL

  5. So much fun to discuss these uniquely odd blades. Have always enjoyed seeing the characters who used them in books and films. Such an elegantly savage device definitely adds depth and interest to any character that wields one of these clever little weapons. Great choice. Nicely done.

Cheers from a brand new A to Z Challenger.

    1. I agree. And it is part of the reason I wanted to learn about weapons. So that my characters can use more than the regular, over used ones. :)

      Thank yoU!

  6. I definitely thought it was the other way around, how sad is that?

If I could figure out how to walk, and then run, in them, I'd wear stilettos (the shoes) all the time so I would have a handy weapon.

    1. Haha nope! Dagger first, shoe later. The shoes are a good weapon but mostly against the people who wear them. :) #Ouch
