Zweihander

Zweihander means two-hander. As in a two handed sword.  Which means the sword is large and heavy enough that it requires two hands to use.  The Zweihander is also known as a Great Sword.  Also known as a Long Sword.

And unlike most swords, these swords are not carried in a sheath on the hip but across the back.

*Disclaimer: I have done extensive research on each of these weapons. I am aware that there are many different versions of each of these weapons. I am not trying to spread false information. If you know and can prove any information wrong, please let me know and I will fix my errors.  I have at least three references for all research on the weapons I will discuss through the challenge.

  1. Isn't that sword in a lot of video games? You've had such an awesome theme this year, Konstanz!

It's been an honor serving as a co-host with you. Glad you made it to the end!

  3. There is something about a warrior pulling a sword from behind his back that makes such a great slow motion moment in a movie. I'm thinking Lord of the Rings here.
