So much hate where there shouldn't be any . . .

Sunday, August 11th . . . I came across a blog post that authors were sharing. Not because it was a great blog post. But because it was a very nasty blog post that upset a lot of people. They were sharing so Indie Authors could defend themselves.

Will I tell you where to find the post? Nope. Not because I want to torture you and make you wonder. Not because I am being bitter towards it and therefore not sharing or spreading it's horribleness.

I am not sharing the blog post because honestly, I don't want to focus on the hate and negativity. I want to tell you something else. I want to tell you about the love and support, the encouragement to be found in the publishing world, as well as everywhere, in everything!

Let me start by saying this . . . When I read the blog post claiming Indie Authors suck, I was quite upset. The blogger ranted, swore, repeated the same words over and over and over, and was quite rude. S/he also had some good points. Like editing and writing about vampires . . . which you saw me blog about earlier this week.

The difference? I simply explained each matter in a truthful, professional, honest way. No hate, no negativity, no being rude for the sake of being rude.

Back to this other post . . . I was upset and quite honestly, I wanted to post a very long comment with my thoughts on their rudeness. But then I realized, A: They would most likely never read the comment. B: If they did, they would only laugh at it and move on, thereby learning nothing. And C: All I would be doing is hurting myself in the end. Because all it would have done is upset me more.

So instead I decided "Why not tell every author out there how awesome they are???" So that's what I am here to do.

You're an author? Awesome, listen up! Oh, you're not an author? That's okay, listen up.

You. Are. Awesome! You can succeed in ANYTHING you so desire to. And no one can stop you, except for you! So people have a thing against Indie Authors . . . oh well. No matter what you go into, someone, somewhere will have something against it.

But that is their problem, not yours.

You are awesome, no matter who you are, no matter where you, no matter what you're doing. You are awesome, loved, wanted, and someday you will find the place that makes you happiest, and you will love it. You will be happy and content. And? You will be so much better off than the person hiding behind an anonymous account, blogging about how much they think you suck.

Be happy, ignore the haters, follow your dreams! And don't let anyone tell you that they aren't worth following, that you aren't worth being what you want to be. Because they are wrong.

  1. I saw a reviewer add 5 different video clips and actually say "I felt like shaking her until she went to writing school" As a blogger it sickens me that you had to see this and I did too. All in all people are so harsh sitting on their little soap boxes.

    1. Me too. As a writer, it kills me to see so much hate, so much anger! And to see someone bash authors so much. It is true. And haters can be found everywhere.

My goal is to simply fight back with kindness.

  2. I actually saw that post passed around as well. I read a few lines and gave up lol (on their post, not yours). Thanks for the uplifting post. I'm also a gamer, and so I guess I'm just calloused to negativity on the web, or have learned to just tune it out or walk away, but it's sad to see that kind of spiteful flaming when it comes to writing, since, for the most part, the author crowd is usually more respectful.

    1. Haha, thank you for not giving up on my post. :) My pleasure! I was so upset over that post and I realized that being angry over it wouldn't get anyone anywhere. *HIGH FIVE* For ignoring the hate and walking aw ay!

  3. Yes! And this is why I love you Konstanz. It's easy to tear down. You don't want to read books about vampires? Fine. Don't read books about vampires. Even they they were hot, lots of people weren't interested. Doesn't mean there aren't still lots of people who do.

Besides, our books are our labor of love. My neighbor doesn't have to love my baby. That's okay. I don't have to love his. It's all good.

Thanks for this post because the writing community IS full of freakin' awesome people!

    1. Thank you, Donna! It is so easy to tear down, and right?!?! If you don't like it, don't read it! Problem solved!

LOL I love your baby comparison!

Thank you! Yes it is! <3

  4. Thanks for the post Konstanz. I have no clue what post you are talking about, so this comment is just based off the vibe you gave me. It's one thing to have a different opinion, and to express it in a civilized manner, but when people are just downright mean-spirited, they not only hurt others around them, but they are also hurting themselves because they are limiting themselves.

    1. My pleasure! Thank you for reading and commenting on this post. :D The post was rude, vile, and just full of anger and hate! Not worth the read!

Exactly! That was the horrible thing about this post. The blogger made some valid points but the way he presented them was so horrible that it didn't even matter.

I totally agree! They are only hurting themselves! <3

  5. Well said. I didn't see that post, and I'm glad. I'm happy as a pig in the mud that my book is out in the world; I don't need anybody raining on my parade. You're much better... you're tossing confetti at us.

  6. Sometimes I am ashamed at fellow bloggers, or just raving mad. Authors are amazing, wonderful, and brave people. No one deserves to be hated on. Period. Why is there so much anger and bitterness? ugh. I am so happy I have not seen the post you talked about.

Thank you writing about it! Let's ignore the haters and stay positive :) In the end, the authors and RESPECTFUL booklovers/bloggers etc. will be happier than the haters!

    1. I do have to agree. It is so sad to see people bashing one another. I wish we could all get along. More people need to understand that words can hurt others. And yes, be very grateful you did not have to read the vulgar post!

My pleasure! Yes! Staying positive and always finding the bright side of things is the only real way to fight back against the negative! <3
