War Hammer

The War Hammer, -not to be confused with a nail hammer (unless you're going to war against a bucket of nails) - was used as a close combat weapon.
The hammer was made hard and out of metal so when fighting against a sword or other long weapon like it, it would simply bounce off rather than cut the handle.

Against armor, the War Hammer was very handy.  Unlike a sword that would simple ricochet off the armor, the War Hammer was sturdy, and strong enough to land a deadly blow to the helmet.

*Disclaimer: I have done extensive research on each of these weapons. I am aware that there are many different versions of each of these weapons. I am not trying to spread false information. If you know and can prove any information wrong, please let me know and I will fix my errors.  I have at least three references for all research on the weapons I will discuss through the challenge.

  1. That's a pretty good weapon to use as it sounds like your opponent actually helps you defeat them by ricocheting your hammer off them readying you for the next swing back at them - less effort for you while wearing them down quicker.
