Author Bio: I've always loved reading, it is a common known fact that I pretty much demolish a book a day. Expensive hobby, but a great one! I've dabbled with writing since the day I could actually write. So, it was only fitting that I had my first book published when I was 15.
If I'm not writing you would generally find me reading, trawling social networking sites and listening
to music, I will pretty much listen to any kind of music but I have two favourites, country music has
been with me since I was a little toddler so this is a massive favourite of mine. I also love to listen to movie scores, especially when I'm writing!

I currently live in Yorkshire with my husband.

Thanks for reading!

Sorry about my absence!

Sorry about the lack of posts! I know I promised you all a month of reviews and I have just gotten so far behind. Between editing and real life I am getting stressed out, panicking, and trying my best to keep on track with Only Half Alive.

This week (hopefully) Only Half Alive will go to the second round of Beta Readers and I will have a little time to blog more. In the meantime, I have pre-scheduled some posts to post on the 28th and 29th. One is a cover reveal (and it's gorgeous) and one is a giveaway! Don't miss out on either! :)

Timespell ~ A Book Review

Sixteen-year-old Julia Corona is a Daughter of Fate, destined to travel through time to battle the creatures of Mythos who seek to change history. Julia would rather use her powers to ditch PE than fulfill her duties as the Daughter of Present, but her best friend Angie, the Daughter of Past, can’t stand the thought of their magic fading away, which is what will happen if they can’t find the third Daughter soon.

Then they discover the Daughter of Future is Kaitlyn, the bullying bad girl who tried to steal Angie’s boyfriend. Suddenly a world ruled by demons doesn’t seem so bad compared to being magically bound to Kaitlyn for the rest of their lives.

Julia is ready to kiss the magic goodbye until she meets Ethan, an intense young man who claims to be her protector and seems to know Julia better than she knows herself. He looks at her with a strange mix of longing and resentment that Julia can’t explain. Before she gets a chance to solve the mystery, the creatures of Mythos strike, opening a portal in Revolutionary France.

The Daughters of Fate must set aside their differences and band together with Ethan to travel back in time to close the portal, but someone close to them will betray them, making their task nearly impossible. The history books are changing, and it may already be too late.

My Review:

This book drags you in from the very first page and keeps you reading until the very end. The detail is amazing, I absolutely love the characters, their interactions, the web of relationships and how they are all connected. Diana is a genius!

I was there in that book. I wasn't just reading, I was on that adventure with them!

The story blew me away. I loved the idea just from reading the back cover, and I absolutely love the cover. But the story, it was something different. There are so many twists and turns, ups and downs. I read the book in under 3 hours. That is how into it I was. I couldn't put it down.

And my goodness, my favorite part? By far is the very ending chapter. After reading the last chapter, so many things made so much more sense. On top of that, it has made it so I am DYING to read the second book! Seriously, go read this book! And then you can suffer with me as we wait together for the second one. :)

Without a doubt,

Reading, Editing, and not sleeping, oh my! ~ A Review

As you all know, June was supposed to be all reviews! It was my way of getting all of the books read that I needed to for review and helping the others I promised to post reviews for.

But sometimes life gets in the way. And sometimes one must admit defeat. Today I am admitting that I need a break. And both of those are okay!

So am I giving up? Most Definitely Not!
Do I need a break? Absolutely!

I am sorry today I wasn't able to post  a book review as it was supposed to be. As much as I tried to have a review ready, life got hectic and my life is just crazy right now! I promise more reviews to come but today, and maybe even most of this week, I won't be able to post a book review.

Why have I been busy? Only Half Alive needs to be sent to my editor ASAP and I haven't even gone through a second round of Beta Readers yet. I want this book to be absolutely perfect and totally publish worthy so I am striving to make it so.

This means that I will be going through at least 3 rounds of beta readers, five rounds of edits, then off to my editor it will go. Once she is through, I will get to go through the book AGAIN! And only when each beta reader, and my editor say it is worthy, will I publish it.

Thank you so much for understanding and being so supportive!

And in other news, I announced the title of my next novel on my Facebook page
(which you can follow HERE).

Here it is, folks!

Chase and the Fallen Angel ~ A Book Review

Chase, an uninspired twenty-three year old, trudges through his uneventful life taking for granted the everyday privileges of his human existence. He does not realize how great life is until he is killed in a tragic, freak accident and unwillingly transformed into a guardian angel. Ripped away from his life and loved ones, he now finds himself living in an unfamiliar world where fantasy becomes a reality. He must carry the heavy responsibilities of protecting his Delicate (mortal) from dangers unseen to the human eye. With the help of his two new guardian angel friends, Trevor and Rachel, Chase is taking his first steps on the long journey to eternal peace by becoming a dedicated guardian angel. But the road to eternal happiness is far from easy when Chase has to find his inner strength and courage to battle malicious demons, a deranged priest and a merciless fallen angel.

My Review:

Alright, I have to start by warning you to NOT be discouraged by the cover. I was at first but R.J kindly gave me the same warning. And once you begin reading the book, the cover is actually quite hilarious in its own way. I smiled the second I realized why the cover is what it is.

Chase and the Fallen Angel, not at all what I expected. And that isn't a bad thing. So many conflicting feelings go through me about this book. Just when you think you know what is going to happen, you realize that you have no idea.

R.J does a  good job of keeping you on your toes, making you guess at every turn. Each chapter is a roller coaster, one sentence, you're laughing, the next, you can't breathe, can't think, can't hear anything above the sound of your drumming heart.

This book isn't like any other angel book I have ever read. It is new, it takes on a whole other side of being an angel and/or fallen angel. It brings on new questions and gives you answers at the same time. It is a fun book that makes you slow down and think.

Gah! Seriously I have so many mixed feelings. Overall? I LOVED it! There are a few scenes that usually make me uncomfortable but I actually thought that they were handled quite well in this book. Taken more seriously, discussed in a way I haven't seen in any other book. And once the topic has been discussed, it is over. No more bringing it up repeatedly throughout the story, which made it so much better.

I will admit that the writing in the very beginning kinda threw me and made it hard for me to get into the story but once I got past that little opening (about one chapter), I really got into the story and the writing drew me in!

On another note, this book is a lot longer than most I see these days for this genre! Just over 500 pages.
And surprisingly, I found that even with the book being longer than expected and longer than what you find mostly these days, the pacing was very nice. The story didn't  feel like it was dragging at all.

R.J, very nicely done! I can't wait to read your next book!

When they go outside, they run into a friend whose parents are also gone. In fact, all the grownups in town have inexplicably vanished. Then along comes a spider a giant, monstrous, mechanical horror.

And that s the least of the nightmares that will befall the brother and sister in Shadowind, a dangerous, otherworldly dimension inhabited by ghostly creatures, cyborg animals and virtual humans a land where anything is possible, including being downloaded into a cryptic, evil role-playing game.

In order to survive, Logan and Mindy band together with other kids determined to find a way back to the life they knew and loved. Ultimately they must battle the sinister cyber-lord for the Staff of the Sky Shifter, a powerful weapon that could destroy the universe...but might also be the key to getting back home.

My Review:

This book blew me away! Oh my goodness, the genius that went on in this book is something totally fresh, completely new. I don't even have another book to compare to. Quests of Shadowind: Sky Shifter just blew me away! Seriously, the detail, the story, the imagination it took to creature such an enjoyable book just swept me off my feet.

I definitely recommend this book! It took me on such a fun adventure, such a thrilling ride! I was completely take aback! Not often do you really get to see a brother/sister relationship these days but seeing these siblings come together to solve their problems was a very nice surprise!

I cannot wait to read the next book! This book is very genius, very enjoyable, very adventurous!

A Lion in America 1: A Whisper in the Jungle ~ A Book Review

Deep in the African jungle where even the bravest are afraid to venture, lies a truth that will propel James through his improbable American journey, if he can come out alive. James a village boy in Africa receives a scholarship to go and study in America and he becomes the envy of the whole village. His girlfriend Janny is however skeptical of what a long distance relationship can do to love. But when Janny vanishes from the village, James and his dog Simba plunge into the belligerent forest at the risk of his life and his American dream. Love transcends all. ‘A Lion in America’ is a suspense story full of love, humor and adventure, where the answer to love’s dilemma lies with a perfect kiss at the top of the Empire Building in New York City.

My Review:

A Whisper in the Jungle threw me at first. The style of writing came across more like a journal rather than a story but the story there was just so engaging that I couldn't put it down. Every time I thought about putting it down I realized I had just read another chapter.

Despite the writing style, I found it very full of detail, every page was full of vivid detail in a way I didn't know possible. This book definitely took me by surprise.

The mystery keeps you reading, makes you need to know what happened, it was a very fun, very clever story. I will be checking out the second book!

Double Fault ~ A Book Review

DOUBLE FAULT is the 2nd book in The Vortex Series where Cassie and Trent’s problems have only just begun. As they fight through the repercussions of creating a parallel world, other dangers are lurking. After years of running, Trent and his orphaned sister, Lorelai, sense the dangerous and power-hungry Dr. Fox is close to discovering their whereabouts.

While Cassie fears for Trent’s life, her tennis career hangs in the balance. Caught between her old and new life, she watches her world slowly crumble until it’s a tragic portrayal of all that she used to know. But worse yet, if her secret is revealed, she might lose what’s most dear to her heart.

My Review:

Oh my goodness, the twists, the turns, the crazy moments that completely throw you off!
This book is even more exciting and intriguing than the first! The adventure, the heart pounding, tear wrenching moments will take your breath away.

Again, the villain just . . . *shakes head* there are no words. I am blown away by how much Janine makes you feel for her villains. It is so crazy but honestly, I felt bad for him! It was crazy! And in that moment when you learn is back story, there was flood of tears!!!!

I stayed up late to finish Double Fault. This book is incredible, enticing, enjoyable, and like the first, will leave you wanting . . .no, no, NEEDING more!!!

And just when you think it can't get much crazier, just when you think the story is wrapped up, you get punched with the crazy ending that leaves you begging to know how they are going to fix this all in the end.

Double Fault is an amazing book that I HIGHLY reccomeend (as well as the first book) to all Young Adults and even adults!! This book, this series, will blow you away!!

Even despite the few things I really didn't like about it, I can overlook to give this book five stars . . . er dragons! :)

Rematch ~ A Book Review

Trent Astor is many things—orphan, runaway, musician. But what’s most extraordinary about Trent is that he’s a time traveler. His supernatural gift sends him on missions to the past to save unsuspecting victims from harm. However, when he fails to save the life of a young girl, his life changes in ways he could never have dreamed.

At eleven-years-old, Cassie Moore suffered through a horrific shooting. Tragically scarred from the ordeal, the once promising tennis prodigy was forced to throw away all hope of a future in tennis. Now, as she begins her senior year of high school, the past continues to haunt her. She struggles to find herself, her self-esteem at an all time low. If only she could resolve the past, she might be able to move on with her life. She never imagined that could be possible until she meets the gorgeous new student in her PE class.

My Review:

I don't think the blurb/synopsis/description, does this book justice! Because when I began reading, I didn't get what I expected. But what I did get was something amazing!!!

I will admit that when I got the the second chapter I was worried with where the scene/talk might lead but was pleasantly surprised with where it didn't go! Janine has written a wonderful, engaging story that keeps you reading and wanting more!

And ohh my goodness, it is a good thing that I had the second book on hand when I finished Rematch because the ending leaves your heart pumping, your eyes leaking, your hands sweaty, and you begging for more!

This book is definitely something different, and something I recommend highly! I absolutely LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it!!!

To be honest, the review ended there. But the more I think about it, the more I think that my words just don't do it justice. This book is something unlike any other book I've ever read. It is completely genius. Setting the few conversations aside that I didn't like (they were all based around one topic), I just LOVED the book.

It really is a fantastic book. Such an incredible plot, amazing twists that I did NOT see coming. And on top of that, near the end you get to see that some times villains aren't villains but simply victims who made the wrong choice. And that part made be bawl my eyes out!

Janine is an incredible author who has written some incredible books!!! I can't wait to post my review of the second book in the Vortex series!

Let the Sky Fall ~ A Book Review

Seventeen-year-old Vane Weston has no idea how he survived the category five tornado that killed his parents. And he has no idea if the beautiful, dark-haired girl who’s swept through his dreams every night since the storm is real. But he hopes she is.

Seventeen-year-old Audra is a sylph, an air elemental. She walks on the wind, can translate its alluring songs, and can even coax it into a weapon with a simple string of commands. She’s also a guardian—Vane’s guardian—and has sworn an oath to protect Vane at all costs. Even if it means sacrificing her own life.

When a hasty mistake reveals their location to the enemy who murdered both of their families, Audra’s forced to help Vane remember who he is. He has a power to claim—the secret language of the West Wind, which only he can understand. But unlocking his heritage will also unlock the memory Audra needs him to forget. And their greatest danger is not the warriors coming to destroy them—but the forbidden romance that’s grown between them.

My Review:
From page one I was captured in this book, caught up in the whirlwind of emotions, characters, and story. Shannon Messenger has a gift for weaving a tale that keeps you reading into the wee hours of morning.  My first thought when I finished the book was 'Oh the feels!" and it is the best way to describe this book.

I was so caught up in both Vane's and Audra's POV's and couldn't help but feel for both of them, understanding where each of them were coming from.

I look forward to more of Shannon's work, that is for sure!

*And yes, I had to put a wind joke in there somewhere. :)

Everbound (Everneath 2) ~ A Book Review

Nikki Beckett could only watch as her boyfriend, Jack, sacrificed himself to save her, taking her place in the Tunnels of the Everneath for eternity — a debt that should’ve been hers. She’s living a borrowed life, and she doesn’t know what to do with the guilt. And every night Jack appears in her dreams, lost and confused and wasting away.

Desperate for answers, Nikki turns to Cole, the immortal bad boy who wants to make her his queen — and the one person least likely to help. But his heart has been touched by everything about Nikki, and he agrees to assist her in the only way he can: by taking her to the Everneath himself.

Nikki and Cole descend into the Everneath, only to discover that their journey will be more difficult than they’d anticipated — and more deadly. But Nikki vows to stop at nothing to save Jack — even if it means making an incredible sacrifice of her own.

In this enthralling sequel to Everneath, Brodi Ashton tests the bonds of destiny and explores the lengths we’ll go to for the ones we love.

My Review:

They say for writers, their idea of romance is how to keep away the lovebirds the longest. I suppose Brodi Ashton is no different. Because my goodness, Everbound is a heart wrenching tale. Worth it? Oh yes. And oh no. But yes, definitely. Everbound cradled my heart, as if it were going to protect it, and then it threw it on the ground, stomped around on it, crushed it, and then picked it up and hugged it better. And just when I thought they were going to make amends, my heart got beaten up on all over again!

Yes Everbound is that emotional, that crazy, that . . . fantastic.

You know when you read a book and it is so crazy yet fantastic? So heart-breaking yet you love it to death? Yeah, those books? Brodi Ashton, I don't know that I will ever forgive you for this. And the last book in the Everneath trilogy, had better fix this. Just saying. . . Everbound has stolen my heart.
