Forsaken (INT) GIVEAWAY!!!!!!

Burdened by eyes that reveal her emotions, branded by a birthmark that spells out her name, and gifted with strength heightened by inhuman capabilities, Kiara Fable has always suspected a veiled aspect of her life-what she failed to notice was the truth of her past lurking in the shadows, disastrously unraveling the normalcy of her future. Kiara's dreary life with her adoptive family in a small, isolated village in the heart of the mystical world Menevilen is abruptly shattered the day she is rescued from an attempted assassination by the charming and intimidating Avian Knight. According to him, royal blood native to the kingdom of Enevale flows through Kiara's veins-the same blood her maniacal, magic-wielding aunt, Vyntrx, will do virtually anything to spill. Thrust in the midst of a century-old blood-feud between the Evalseman and Nonae races, Kiara must ultimately betray half of her heritage and choose to defend a side of the rivalry. Faced with a war she may not be capable of winning, the presence of a traitor hiding amid the darkness of distrust, the bittersweet venom of love's merciless sting, and more precarious escapades than she thought imaginable, Kiara fears her new world may be utterly forsaken.

SYNOPSIS

The events of Claudia’s party were nothing more than a distant memory as far as Kia was concerned. She was ready to resume her life as though that night had never happened. But it’s a slippery slope keeping a secret and Kia’s about to learn just how hard when she’s faced with the truth and the consequences of her decision.
Adam Chaves was no stranger to girls wanting him. He was no stranger to breaking hearts, although never intentionally. What he didn’t understand was how Kia could undress him, touch him, burn him with her eyes and still keep him at arm’s length when it was evident how much it cost her. But what Kia didn’t realize was that he had never given up on anything in his life and he wasn’t about to start now. He would have his girl even if it meant he had to kidnap her to do it.

Getting to know Jocelyn!

Jocelyn, my wonderful PA will be posting here every now and again! So we thought it would be fun to introduce her and tell you a little more about her!

~ From Jocelyn ~

Hi everyone! I'm Jocelyn Sanchez, and as most of you already know, I'm Konstanz Silverbow's PA (Personal Assistant). I thought that since I'm going to be posting on Konstanz's blog every now and then that I should introduce myself to those of you who don't know me. I'm a full time student and want to go to school to become a Pastry Chef. But when I'm not cooking or studying for school, you can find me reading and writing. I've had a love for reading ever since I was a child. I love writing but can never seem to finish writing a book!! Anyway, I'm also learning ASL (American Sign Language) and have been self-teaching myself for about two and a half years now. Well, that's a few things about me!! I'm not really good at this blogging thing, but I will do my best to get better and write fun and interesting posts!

Did you know that Jocelyn has a story published?? Yep, she does!

When you look at a picture, what do you see? We gave authors around the world the challenge to write a story based on a set of five images. More than thirty authors rose to that challenge and created an amazing young adult anthology of drabbles, short stories, novelettes and novellas for you to enjoy. Flip the pages and prepare to be Wonderstruck!

“You have not lived today until you have done something for someone who can never repay you.” ― John Bunyan

“The best antidote I know for worry is work. The best cure for weariness is the challenge of helping someone who is even more tired. One of the great ironies of life is this: He or she who serves almost always benefits more than he or she who is served.”
― Gordon B. Hinckley

“I don't want to live in the kind of world where we don't look out for each other. Not just the people that are close to us, but anybody who needs a helping hand. I cant change the way anybody else thinks, or what they choose to do, but I can do my bit.”
― Charles de Lint

“Love is not patronizing and charity isn't about pity, it is about love. Charity and love are the same -- with charity you give love, so don't just give money but reach out your hand instead.”
― Mother Teresa

And then someone . . . was offended.

Source: Ya
It all started HERE. People offended over a plus-sized actress dressed in a baggy coat for a photo shoot. Complaining that it isn't fair or it isn't right that she was dressed in something baggy.

I am about to be blatantly honest; I actually think she looks GREAT in that picture. You know what else I think? I think it's so awesome that there is a gorgeous woman on that cover and she is fully clothed!

If anything, I am more offended when women do photo shoots for magazines like this one and pretty much do it naked or close enough to it that they might as well be.

But that's not even my point. No, it was this article that happened to be my breaking point for another issue entirely.

Being offended.

Yep, that is the real crime in this entire thing. And it isn't just an issue with this article. These days it does not matter what you say or do, someone will be offended.

And to be honest? Well I kinda summed up my feelings on it yesterday via Facebook.

Read the post on Facebook HERE.

I can't be alone in this. If I got offended over everything that I could be offended over, I would pretty much be friendless. For example . . . do you know how often my name is misspelled? Let's just say OFTEN! Does it annoy me? Sometimes. But mostly I brush it off. It truly is not that big of a deal! I would rather remain friends with someone who isn't sure which way to spell my name than lose that friend because they had a typo!

Picture of me taken summer of 2013 at the age of 20.

Can I tell you often I am taken for a 12 year old? Not really. It happens weekly, sometimes daily. Does it sting? YES! Does it annoy me? YES! Can I truly be mad at someone for thinking I am 12? Not really! Because seriously, I don't look my age (most of the time)! It's just the way it is. If it happened once or twice? Yes, I would have a right to be angry. But because it happens so often, clearly the majority of people truly believe I am that young!

My point? I can see how things are offensive, I understand why people are offended (to some things, others still baffle me). But I also know that it is the stupidest reason in the world to lose friends or potential friends.

Stop letting everything offend you! Don't just say you're offended, give me a reason. Stand up for your beliefs. But stop with "I'm offended . . . because of reasons!" I get it. No matter what is said or done, someone will be offended. Learn to let it go, walk away or stand up, but don't fight from the sidelines.

Halloween Make-over!

You might have noticed some changes! Well no worries, this background is just until October 31st! I think its time for some serious change around here. You know what that means? November 1st I will be changing the background once more . . . but not to the last background.

I did love that background. One of my favorites for sure! But one thing I love about blogging is I can change the background and decor whenever I need or want. And this is one of those times. I am hoping the new changes will help make this blog feel a little more . . .fantastical!

I want this place to be a blog where you can visit knowing you will find something fun and interesting! Something full of information, a place that transports you! So I am making it more fantasy based, as that is what I write after all.

I will also be blogging more about what I love, what I do, and I will FINALLY be going to that schedule I have posted about TWICE now and then NOT been able to follow through with! YAY!

In other news, stop by tomorrow for an epic GIVEAWAY! :)

Death was nothing like sixteen-year-old Alisa Callahan thought it would be. Resting on pink, fluffy clouds for eternity with her gram and best friend sounded like a dream come true. Unfortunately, eternal rewards aren’t given out so freely when you take your own life.
Required to pay the debt for committing suicide, Alisa must become a guardian. It sounds easy enough, but not when the boy she is forced to protect has a dangerous secret and wants absolutely nothing to do with her.
Brecken Shaefer isn’t any normal teenager. He has special gifts that are sure to make Alisa’s afterlife miserable. When feelings develop between them, everything spins out of control. My Review:

This book grabbed my attention and didn't let go until I had read the whole thing through! Thrilling, heart pounding, an adrenaline rush indeed!  This book takes you on a ride like no other!

Real characters - I felt connected to them. When they worried, I worried. When they were happy, I was happy. Cindy writes the most amazing characters that are anything but fiction! Real problems - Misha has to deal with a lot! And though she is a kick-butt heroine, she has her doubts, her issues, and she handles them just as well! Real terrifying moments that keep you riveted to the page, unable to look away - This book seriously kept my heart pumping! Every turn of events I was hanging on a thread, panicking, worrying for the characters. I tried to work on other projects in-between reading this book but it didn't happen, I couldn't put the book down!

Cindy truly has a gift for writing! She makes the characters come alive! The writing is fantastic! My only complaint? I want more!

5 Stars, easy!

Cindy M. Hogan graduated with a secondary education teaching degree and enjoys spending time with unpredictable teenagers. More than anything she loves the time she has with her own teenage daughters and wishes she could freeze them at this fun age. If she's not reading or writing, you'll find her snuggled up with the love of her life watching a great movie or planning their next party. She loves to bake, garden and be outdoors doing a myriad of activities.

Rising by Holly Kelly

In a war between the humans and the inhabitants of the sea—humans will lose. Xanthus Dimitriou—the most lethal Dagonian to rise from the ocean—is on a mission to save mankind from annihilation. But first there’s one small thing he needs to do… kill a beautiful young woman in a wheelchair.

Killing her doesn’t start out as part of his plan. He entrenches himself deep in the human world. Aligning himself with his enemies, he prepares to send them to Triton to face their punishment. Then Sara Taylor rolls onto the scene. Xanthus knows at once she’s a criminal. And her crime? Being born. She’s a human/Dagonian half-breed, an abomination. Killing her should be an easy job. All he has to do is break into her apartment, slit her throat, and feed her body to the sharks. Simple, right? Wrong. If only she weren’t so beautiful, so innocent, so sweet...

Saving the world may have to wait. It appears Xanthus has a woman to save. But protecting her may cost him his own life.

Rise of Xosha Scavenger Hunt!

“They said alliances are needed but to remember that not all who claim to be our allies really are.” Rose replied.

Pyre cut in right after Rose stopped talking. “They also hinted that we have an enemy in the horde.”

Oceanus’ eyes shot open as large and round as discs. “What?!” Rose shot a glare at Pyre. “Pyre!”
“He needed to know Rose!” Pyre shot back in defense.

“I know he did and I was going to tell him. Just not like this. I wanted to speak more with them on this before bringing it up.” Rose said softly, wondering if her words made any sense to them. From the way they were looking at her, she would guess not.

“I mean. What if they’re wrong? It’s possible, you know they’ve been wrong before!” Rose said desperately as Oceanus growled.

Pyre spoke up, voicing Oceanus’ exact thoughts. “They’ve never been wrong Rose. Not once! Maybe you’re the enemy they spoke about.”

“They have been wrong! I only tell you what’s important to the horde! I don’t tell you everything they tell me!” Rose said as her own anger began to build. She was really getting fed up with everyone automatically assuming things concerning her.

Pyre shoved her. His heart cried out as he reverted to his once natural treatment of the dragon he only minutes before had considered his friend. “What have they lied about then Rose?”

Losing the current, she spiraled toward Caprae. She caught a new current right before she would have slammed quite ungracefully into the ground. “They said someone would love me for me! They said I wouldn’t be an outcast once we found Caprae. And for a little while I thought maybe they were right about that, too. But they weren’t, they were wrong!” She turned and flew off refusing to let the two males see her cry.

“Rose, wait!” Pyre called out trying to fly after her. As her form turned into a spec on the horizon, he stopped with a sigh and hung his head. “I’m sorry…” He muttered as he silently cursed himself for his stupidity.

The Awakening by Christy Dorrity

. . . because some Celtic stories won’t be contained in myth.

A little magic has always run in sixteen-year-old McKayla McCleery's family—at least that’s what she’s been told. McKayla’s eccentric Aunt Avril travels the world as a psychic for the FBI, and her mother can make amazing delicacies out of the most basic of ingredients. But McKayla doesn't think for a second that the magic is real—it’s just good storytelling. Besides, McKayla doesn’t need magic. She recently moved to beautiful Star Valley, Wyoming, and already she has a best friend, a solo in her upcoming ballet recital—and the gorgeous guy in her physics class keeps looking her way.

When an unexpected fascination with Irish dance leads McKayla to seek instruction from the mute, crippled janitor at her high school, she learns that her family is not the only one with unexplained abilities. After Aunt Avril comes to Star Valley in pursuit of a supernatural killer, people begin disappearing, and the lives of those McKayla holds most dear are threatened.

When the janitor reveals that an ancient curse, known as a geis, has awakened deadly powers that defy explanation, McKayla is forced to come to terms with what is real and what is fantasy. A thrilling debut novel based in Celtic mythology, Awakening is a gripping young adult fantasy rife with magic, romance, and mystery.
