Hippogryph

Hippogriffs (or Hippygryphs) shouldn't exist.  The Hippogriff is the offspring of Griffin and horse.  Why shouldn't they exist?  Griffins feed off of horses.  And yet, here they are! The most commonly known hippogriff of course, would be Buckbeak from Harry Potter.  (I always loved Buckbeak!)
Hippogriffs (from what I have read, I do not know for sure as of I have never played the games) also are in World of Warcraft (WoW) as Flying mounts for hire and also Final Fantasy.

  1. Hah! It's funny that they can't exist because Griffons eat Horses, rather than they can't exist because Griffons don't exist. LOL.

    1. Again, I don't play video games. I just mentioned the ones I found mentioned in my research. But thank you for sharing that!

  3. I did this one today, too! In honor of a little Harry Potter, of course. ;)

  4. Predators and prey have been known to get along. Like, in Africa, a lioness with empty nest syndrome (or something) adopted a baby gazelle, and took care of it until it was killed.

  6. I, too, love Buckbeak. Too bad something like this really didn't exist. I'd own one.

    1. I would like to think they exist somewhere. . . even if it is only in my dreams. . .

  7. My son loves Buckbeak. He draws him all the time and wants a real one for Christmas. To be nine again :)

  8. Love both hippogriffs and griffins. I think in Harry Potter, though, hippogriffs are a separate species -- they might originally have started because some wizard crossed a griffin with a horse, but they breed true.

  9. What a great word! I have to confess I have not read Harry Potter-I know, last person on the planet who hasn't... but I do like Griffins.

    1. Thank you. Don't worry, you're not the last person. I know quite a few people who won't read it.

  11. Well I certainly learned something new from your post today. Not that I've given much thought to creatures that should never be combined because they would devour each other. Great question for Trivia Pursuit, now that I think about it. Who would know...except you and all the visitors to this post, that is?
